With Matthaeus the totals can flow into the consolidated aggregates of the Provinces and Congregations: a first great advantage for knowing the overall situation.
Simply sending the totals, as often happens today, is not enough to obtain consolidated homogeneous aggregates. If entries and criteria are different, the numbers received require additional work to compare and aggregate.
