The prof. Gabriele Torresan explaining the Magister experience at the conference organized by the Rome General Secretaries Group

Last February 13th, Magister took part in conference organized in Rome by the Rome General Secretaries Group (GSGR). The meeting, hosted by the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, focused on the topic of managing the archives of the congregations.

Magister shared his experience on digitization and archive management thanks to the intervention of prof. Gabriele Torresan, professor of archives at the Institute of Theology of Consecrated Life “Claretianum” in Rome.

Towards digital transformation

"Management of archives and digital archives. The registry of religious people - Database, catalogue, reports and statistics": this is the title of Torresan's speech at the conference. A journey in stages to delve deeper into the needs of congregations regarding archive, registry and protocol management; but also to explore the opportunities arising from the use of new digital technologies.

“The archive, in particular the historical archive, has always represented the heart of its charism for religious institutes, for this reason it has been constantly preserved and updated over the years (or centuries)” explains the prof. Torresan. “As its size and consultation needs grow, it can now take advantage of new technologies to become a continuous, accessible and safe point of reference for congregations and their members, capable of preserving the originals, providing immediate responses and guaranteeing the necessary privacy”.

The technology therefore, as Torresan declares and as Magister's experience in the field testifies, it's a great support which allows religious institutes to successfully face the challenges of modernity.

The case of Saulo and Publius

Magister is committed to accompanying religious institutes in digital transformation. With Saulo, for example, has designed an innovative solution for the digitization and management of congregational archives. With Publius, however, invented a new way of managing the registry of religious people: more modern and efficient.

At the conference, the prof. Torresan spoke about the potential of the two software showing how technology can help religious institutions in their daily activities. He explained the functionality of Saulo e Publius, illustrating the advantages of digital archiving in terms of space, availability and access to information, privacy, security and much more.

It was a precious opportunity for discussion and exchange. Not only a moment of training for the religious, but also an opportunity for updating to acquire the necessary tools for modern management of the congregation.
